America’s Best Large Employers In 2019

In the United States, many companies have earned plaudits for innovative working environments and motivated workforces, enabling them to stand out from the rest and attract the very best talent. Statista partnered with Forbes to find out which companies and organizations across the U.S. are giving their employees the very best deal by asking 50,000 workers at large (5,000+ employees) companies, nonprofit institutions, government agencies, and U.S. divisions of multinationals to evaluate their employers on a range of factors such as atmosphere, remuneration and working conditions. The following infographic was central to the research – how likely would respondents be to recommend their employer to a friend or family member on a scale of 0 to 10?

This year, grocery chain Trader Joe’s came top of the ranking with a score of 9.59 out of 10. The company has an unusual nautical theme for its workers with job titles ranging from crew member to merchant, mate and captain. Even though most grocery store workers do not have high paypackets, salaries at Trader Joe’s are known to be good with captains (store managers) taking home over $100,000 a year. As well as that, staff receive health insurance and a retirement plan while store discounts are also on offer. Southwest Airlines come second this year with a score of 9.54 and its employees receive unlimited travel privileges for themselves and eligible dependents as well as discounts with rental car companies and hotels. This year, Lilly rounds off the top three with employees reporting perks such as a good vacation allowance, 401K plan and maternity and paternity leave.
